Agrobalsas: a historic milestone for Brazilian agribusiness

The first edition of Agrobalsas took place in 2000, at Fazenda Reunidas, in the Rio Coco region, owned by farmer Antidio Sandri. On that occasion, the 1st Cotton Meeting of Maranhão was held, with the specific objective of showcasing technological exhibits of the main crops and promoting demonstrations of agricultural machinery and equipment. The event also featured technical sessions, lectures, debates, courses, training sessions, and booths for business negotiations. Currently, in its 22nd edition, it has established itself as a strategic platform for innovation, business generation, and knowledge sharing in agribusiness.

Roots that transform

Under the theme “Roots that Transform,” Agrobalsas will take place over 6 days, from May 11 to 16, at Fazenda Sol Nascente in Balsas (MA). The event will bring together rural producers, companies, researchers, and specialists from various regions of the country to present innovations and discuss the sector’s challenges. The fair will feature technologies, equipment, inputs, digital solutions, and services aimed at agricultural production.

Program

The Agrobalsas 2026 program is diverse and goes far beyond traditional agricultural discussions. Mornings and afternoons will be dedicated to lectures, workshops, and courses on sustainability, innovation, and new agribusiness trends. The large exhibition will bring together companies and institutions showcasing their solutions and products, creating a dynamic environment for business and networking.

There will also be space to encourage entrepreneurship, with workshops and interactive activities promoted by government departments and agencies. Educational activities for children and young people are also planned, raising awareness about the importance of agribusiness and sustainability.

The relevance of Agrobalsas 2026 extends nationally and internationally, standing out as one of the main events on the Brazilian agribusiness calendar. The presence of renowned specialists and industry leaders reinforces its importance as a space for learning and exchanging ideas that can positively impact agricultural production and the country’s economy. Scientist Mariângela Hungria, the first Brazilian to win the “Nobel” of Agriculture, will be in attendance.

At the state level, the event represents a unique opportunity to strengthen Maranhão’s position as a hub for agricultural and technological development.

The importance of partnerships

The collaboration with partners was crucial in building the Agrobalsas legacy. The perseverance, persistence, resilience, and dedication of rural producers and exhibitors have transformed the fair into one of the main agricultural events in Brazil.

The 2026 edition arrives full of advancements. Agrobalsas is a commercial fair strategically designed to generate business and brings together sectors focused on finding practical and viable solutions to optimize production at all stages.

The infrastructure includes booths, covered areas, food services, paved streets, curbs, and landscaped areas. It also features a 220-volt electrical network, a hydraulic system with water points in all lots, a climate-controlled space for lectures with capacity for up to 200 people, a technological pavilion, and a technological showcase with more than 40 demonstration plots.

In addition, there will be large-scale showcases of agricultural machinery and equipment, connectivity in all booths, parking for up to 6,500 vehicles, a concert area with capacity for 30,000 people, and exclusive business spaces. Everything has been planned to ensure comfort and efficiency for exhibitors and visitors, consolidating Agrobalsas as a national reference in technology and innovation in agribusiness.
