Dr. Mariângela Hungria is present at the 22nd edition of the largest agribusiness event – Agrobalsas

At a time when science is transforming the model of Brazilian agriculture, one of the greatest events in the sector welcomes to its stage the country’s leading scientist, Dr. Mariângela Hungria. She arrives highlighting the strength of women in the field, who, through scientific research, transform regions and are now gaining global recognition.

Dr. Mariângela Hungria, recognized as one of the most influential scientists in the world in the agricultural field, makes her presence at the event more than just a highlight of the program—it becomes a moment of tribute and recognition to the soybean migrants who arrived in the Balsas region and, with the support of Embrapa, initiated research on soybean cultivars adapted to low-altitude regions and high temperatures. These advances were later expanded by seed producers across MATOPIBA through the Foundation for the Support of Research of the Northern Export Corridor (FAPCEN).

As FAPCEN celebrates its 33rd anniversary, it continues to transfer and adapt innovative technologies through the events it organizes. As a major highlight, it is honored by the presence of Dr. Mariângela Hungria.

On May 12 at 7:00 PM, well-deserved awards and tributes will be presented to Dr. Mariângela through the “Women Worth Gold” Trophy, an initiative of Plataforma Feminina—an association of women in agribusiness that connects professionals and promotes sustainable regional development. She will also be honored by the City Council of Balsas with the title of Honorary Citizen of Balsas.

Continuing on May 13 at 9:00 AM, a major panel is scheduled at AGROBALSAS on “Regenerating Agriculture,” covering everything from small producers to large agribusiness entrepreneurs. The discussion will address protecting biomes, ensuring food security, minimizing agricultural risks, and promoting an important debate on the use of bio-inputs.

“Roots That Transform,” the theme of the 22nd edition, represents the transformation and appreciation of Brazilian territories, which can be considered one of the world’s great breadbaskets.
